Empire of Storms By Sarah J Mass - Review

Hello all,

So I'm here with the final throne of glass book. I've got the short stories one on my current reading list and look forward to sharing my thoughts on that one soon enough. Its been a good series to read this year.

Empire of Storms - Sarah J Maas

Kingdoms collide in Sarah J. Maas's epic fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series.
The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves at odds with those who don't.
With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side, and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, and dark forces become poised to claim her world, the only chance for salvation will lie in a desperate quest that may mark the end of everything Aelin holds dear.
In this breathtaking fifth installment of the New York Times bestselling Throne of Glass series, Aelin will have to choose what--and who--to sacrifice if she's to keep the world of Erilea from breaking apart.

3/5

I had loved the series up to this book. This one seemed to drag on in places and sometimes I was getting confused by the jumps that were thrown around and sometimes felt it took away from the flow of the story. I had to stop at certain points to refocus my mind on the new character being introduced. I did like the short sentences that at times would make the pace of the book so much easier to read.  The story was great however it was just how they executed it that I didn't like. I know that there is a lot of people who don't agree with me but this is just how I felt as I got further and further into it.

I also wanted a closure for the end of the story that I didn't feel we got. I know there is a spin-off series I just found myself wishing that she had cut this into another three books. Maybe she might have been able to give a great ending to a story that offered the reader so much.

City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare Book Review

Hello All,

So I'm digging into the books I started in August that I haven't had a chance to finish. I'm falling in love with some of them and some of them am struggling with.

Here is what I thought of "City of Ashes" (Book 2 of Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare.

Is love worth betraying everything? Plunge into the second adventure in the internationally bestselling Mortal Instruments series and “prepare to be hooked” (Entertainment Weekly)—now with a gorgeous new cover, a map, a new foreword, and exclusive bonus content! City of Ashes is a Shadowhunters novel.

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go—especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil—and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings—and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures readers back into the dark grip of New York City’s Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

5/5 Star Review

I'm diving in here to say that in the beginning I fell in love with the novel and enjoyed the fast pace. Coming to the end I struggled as I found it slow down and I really struggled with it. I loved the first one and flew that one. I don't know if I hit a reading slump or if it was the speed of the twisting novel. I have found myself questioning the book and maybe trying it later on. I will though be continuing on the series to see if I have fallen out of love with how the story is playing out or if its me.

Pretty Little Liars #2 - Flawless - Sara Shepard Review

Hello all,

I'm getting into "Flawless" which is the second Pretty Little Liars book in the series. I can't wait to reveal my thoughts about this piece of work.

Pretty Little Liars : Flawless

#1 New York Times bestselling series
This special paperback TV tie-in edition of Flawless, the second book in Sara Shepard's #1 New York Times bestselling series, features cover artwork from the hit ABC Family TV show Pretty Little Liars, starring Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, and Shay Mitchell.

Fans of the Pretty Little Liars TV show will find Flawless packed with the same kind of juicy secrets, taut suspense, and jaw-dropping surprises that they know and love, all brought to life in New York Times bestselling author Sara Shepard's compellingly gripping writing.

5/5 Stars
Review:

This is a great next part of the story and it moves the characters into deeper danger. I have to say I love the way that the characters get into the depths of the suspense, thriller storyline. The twists completely catch you off guard and it doesn't follow the same pathway as the TV series. I have to say that I enjoyed the new chapter in what could be an amazing book series that are played by really well. Nothing was forgotten and every detail was done just right. I can't recommend this enough for teenagers that are looking for a gateway into the thriller suspense genre.
