Hello All,
This review is a little late as life gets in the way sometimes and that was true for me. Anyway, let's get down to the new release that became a best seller.
What I Expected: A fairy world that was a lot like the one that Melissa Marr created. I was excited to get into the heart of another fairy world and for some reason, I really thought I would love it. I had seen it on booktube a lot. To me, this was going to be an exciting fantasy novel to take my mind off my own life struggles.
What I Got: A tragic story that was gripping but at times hard to keep myself in the heart of it with the pacing slowing at certain points. I was hoping for more that I can't explain or really say what I wanted just found the book leaving me feeling at times unfulfilled.
Review: What I got was a politically driven book that tackled bullying between mortals and fairy. We see the betrayal between the twin sisters and an older one struggling with not sure which world to be in. The want for the twins new father who is the father of the old sister to accept them. They try to find a place in court and this was something that most teenagers would understand. I love that most of the storyline can be tied back to the struggles most of us face every day. It was a well-written book that I just wished had been more attention-grabbing at points.

The Cruel Prince
"Lush, dangerous, a dark jewel of a book . . . intoxicating" - Leigh Bardugo, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Six of Crows
Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
One terrible morning, Jude and her sisters see their parents murdered in front of them. The terrifying assassin abducts all three girls to the world of Faerie, where Jude is installed in the royal court but mocked and tormented by the Faerie royalty for being mortal.
As Jude grows older, she realises that she will need to take part in the dangerous deceptions of the fey to ever truly belong.
But the stairway to power is fraught with shadows and betrayal. And looming over all is the infuriating, arrogant and charismatic Prince Cardan . . .
Enter the dramatic and thrilling world of the Folk of the Air, brimful of magic and romance from New York Times bestselling author Holly Black.
