The One: Selection Series- Kiera Cass- 5 Star Review

Hello All,

This is an awesome time of year as there is so many great books coming out. I know that I'm stretching my book budget to the limits. Are you?

Here we go with the "The One: Selection Series" by Kiera Cass

THE SELECTION changed the lives of thirty-five girls forever. Now, only one will claim Prince Maxon’s heart…
It’s swoon meets the Hunger Games in the third instalment of THE SELECTION series!
For the four girls who remain at the palace, the friendships they’ve formed, rivalries they’ve struggled with and dangers they’ve faced have bound them to each other for the rest of their lives.
Now, the time has come for one winner to be chosen.
America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown – or to Prince Maxon’s heart. But as the competition approaches its end and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realises just how much she stands to lose – and how hard she’ll have to fight for the future she wants.
The breathtaking third title in THE SELECTION series will make you swoon!

5 Star Review

From the beginning of the novel I felt nervous about the outcome that was coming at the end of this book. I was finding myself pulled up so tensely waiting to when Aspen and America were going to be caught. I have never been so tense over a book in the way that I was. I wanted to just scream at America and ask her what she was doing. I also wanted to slap her upside the head and say tell  him that you love him already.

Once we have the king becoming our main villian in the series it makes the ending so much more hard hitting. It makes the emotions just a hundred times more pushy. I did feel at times the book was pushed to finish more neatly than before. I loved how the upbeat writing continued to break through the flaws that were in this novel and it managed to keep the book a 5 star review in my opinion.

Kiera should be more than proud of herself in the work that she has done with this series and with how she has settled this book I'll be interested in seeing how she continues on the series. If it can still hold the same excitement that she has managed to infuse in the characters of this novel.

I guess we will see.

The Elite (Book 2 of The Selection) - Kiera Cass - 5 star review

Hello All Readers,

I'm excited to be here with you to present the second in the Selection series that I'm reading. I'm actually sitting down and reading an entire series back to back which I don't often do but dor it Kiera Cass's enthusiastic style of writing and up beat voice has me turning those pages till three am.

The Elite (Selection 2 Book)

The Selection began with thirty-five girls.
Now with the group narrowed down to the six Elite, the competition to win Prince Maxon's heart is fiercer than ever—and America is still struggling to decide where her heart truly lies. Is it with Maxon, who could make her life a fairy tale? Or with her first love, Aspen?

America is desperate for more time. But the rest of the Elite know exactly what they want—and America's chance to choose is about to slip away.

5 Star Review

What can I say, this book had me tingling from the out start and I was just as mad at Maxon as America was. I really endure with her and god only knows that Kiera had me turning the pages well into the night on this one. I kept biting my nails worried that he was going to catch America with good old Aspen. I  am more certain than ever that she should be with Maxon. I'm sorry if a boy tells me that I can't be something I show him the door.

There was a lot of emotions in this book I think compared to the other one. There was more danger in this novel for me. I think the suspense was turned up to the maximum level and I enjoyed every second of it. I have to say the twists and turns in this book were done to perfection. I have to say that I will devour this series within the month. Pushing back any other books I wanted to read. I just couldn't put this book down. I take my hat off to you Kiera Cass.

The Selection By Kiera Cass- 5 star review

Hello Readers,

So I read a Young Adult outside my normal list of YA authors that I read that made it onto one of my bookshelves. I really need more bookshelves. I think I'll be adding Kiera Cass in the future and the review I'm sure is going to explain why.

The Selection- Keira Cass

Thirty-five beautiful girls. Thirty-five beautiful rivals…
It’s the chance of a lifetime and 17-year-old America Singer should feel lucky. She has been chosen for The Selection, a reality TV lottery in which the special few compete for gorgeous Prince Maxon’s love.
Swept up in a world of elaborate gowns, glittering jewels and decadent feasts, America is living a new and glamorous life. And the prince takes a special interest in her, much to the outrage of the others.
Rivalry within The Selection is fierce and not all of the girls are prepared to play by the rules. But what they don’t know is that America has a secret – one which could throw the whole competition… and change her life forever.

5 Star Review

If I had to pick one word to describe what this book was I would have to choose "Enthusiasm".  The author's up beat and excited writing style becomes addictive to anyone who reads this great fairytale. I have to say that its a great teenage novel for anyone who is of that age group or even an adult. I love the flow. What arcs she has created blew me away also. Never once does she forget about any of the characters she has picked.

If you think that the story of this book was just written in the excited style with that nail biting romance then think again. This is the personality of the author. I can imagine her fingers skipping across the keys while she listens and watches America Singer telling her story. Having the first one cut down the Selection group made me wonder if the series could continue into six books.

The attraction of her writing style made me skip my bookclub list and head straight into the second book. I have to say that Kiera Cass for a break out author is by passing most authors who started out with Harper Collin's team. I can't wait to discover more.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - 5 Star Review

Hello Readers,

Read all the sensational books in The Shadowhunter Chronicles: The Mortal Instruments, The Infernal Devices, Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, The Bane Chronicles, The Dark Artifices, The Last Hours and The Shadowhunter's Codex.

5 star review:

From the get go I was really interested in seeing what this author created after being inspired by the author Cassandra Clare created through the series. The characters are strong from the start. The twists and emotions are strong. The world was well detailed and well created from the finest details. Even the story arch was well designed and even the pain that they go through.

There is threads that are left hanging begging you to pick up the next book in the series. Each of the budding relationships that were in the book soon were smashed. Even the ties that the teenagers have to teachers are shattered. The author goes so far as to shatter the bonds of who they think were parents of these characters. What these characters think of their parents and how they have been brought up?

Storm Front- Jim Butcher - 5 star Review

Hello One and All,

Gosh I forgot to do the review for this book which is not like me but I was in a reading marathon which distracted me from the review side of things. Better late then never I suppose. I will be looking forward to telling you at the end of this blog the next book that I will be reviewing so make sure that you stick around to the end.

Storm Front- Jim Butcher
5 Star Review
Blurb:
For Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry's seeing dollar signs. But where there's black magic, there's a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry's name.

Review:

Now this is a funny and sometimes dark storyline. The hint of romance is refreshing for the genre that I notice Jim dominating in. The characters are well rounded and you will not be disappointed. You'll find the explanation of the magic a little long winded but as I continue on with the series I hope that this gets less of a stumbling block.

Harry is someone that you often feel sorry for, want to palm slap your own forehead and often shout at the book to say "Don't do it!" because there is so many moments that he seems to wonder into the depths of trouble all by himself. The story soon grows to a fever pitch that makes it even more enjoyable. I have to say the longer the story went on the more I didn't want it to end. There is really to much fun in this book. However if you don't like a lot of nude scenes then this might make you cringe. There is a sense of slap stick comedy that you can't ignore however the fantasy qualities will have you endearing yourself to Jim Butchers telling style.

There is nothing in this book that Jim didn't make work perfectly and I have to say I can safely see why it was such a hit. Why it will continue to be a growing success book after book.
